Actually does anyone know of some 28mm scale Roman spectators on the market? It might be a niche market but I can see a few arena builders will be looking to fill their stands. :?:

Best I've found are Wargames Foundry. Non-fighting figures from the Roman Era look to be a niche product. Unfortunately it was well before the advent of steam and rails, or the market would be rife with 'em! ;)

Hi again,

i tried some paint and nearly satisfied with the red/brown...then i tried some sand...will dry now and then i will see...

Seems to be that i have to do this twice or more times (then paint it).

Finally i tried to darken the walls, when they are dried they will get some more dry-brush paint...

What do you think? is the color too light?

I think the wall colours aren't too bad actually. The reddie brown of the wood against the light grey works well.

Only criticism would be that the arena floor could do with a darker earthier hue, but as you havent started to paint the floor it's hardly worth mentioning.

Are you going to decorate the walls with anything? Roman mosaic below the box, blood splatters, simple Greek style line pattern? If you are concerned about breaking up the lightness there are several options available to you.

Arden, thank you for the feedback.

I will paint the floor a little bit darker....

And i will bring some extras to the walls. My ideas are spiked walls ( you can push your oppent into for another point of damage), some rings to tie a lion...(maybe in the third round it gets free)...some boxes to climb onto...any other ideas?

Weapon rack would be another option.

Mosaics of Gods (oh that's actual a good idea must serch google after this and print some out).

I'm going for a spiked wall next to the beast enclosure. Also going to try and pick up some Mantic or GW skelton warriors to pepper on to the spikes and pits to represent fallen gladiators.

Nice ideas...i will put some arms and shields under the sand that will represent earlier battles (or loser :-) ) - you will only see a hand or an elbow

mosaic sounds cool...have to take a look if i find some...
