This is coming along really well. What are the tiles made of? If it's a soft wood you might be able to make an indentation along the edge of each tile with a ballpoint pen, then come back and paint it for the grout look. |

Thank you. The tiles are thin cardboard, and when I shaded the first one I did try to sort of score in between the tiles with a knife, and it kinda worked to make the dividing lines more visible. Blood pool looks about like this. |

I also need to name this arena something. Someone else posted theirs called the Garden of Aesclepius or something like that. Suggestions welcome. I am thinking that the pc games Tomb Raider and Hexen used to have cool antique sounding names for thier levels. Maybe inspiration could come from there. Hmm. Also, as this arena is starting to near completion, I had so much fun building it that I am already thinking of the next one. I am thinking that making one with built-in pits might not be so hard - I just need more than one layer of foamboard for the base. Will ponder this. |

I've started working on the outer walls now, and these I am actually pretty happy with so far. Easy drybrush job. And because I find it amusing, standing on its side with hazards attached. |

This looks so great. Love the details: blood pool, riveting around out edge, how the palette matches your gladiators so perfectly... totally jealous. |

Thanks you guys. It has been a really long time since I built terrain for any game that I forgot how fun and satisfying it can be. I'm still pondering names. If I imagine this being underground somehow, it could be the hypogaean circus. Or arena. |

I'm in Croatia just now on holiday and walked past some cool old wells, so I'm thinking that my arena will be a well. Maybe the Well of Orpheus. Edit: Thread title changed now that I have a name. |

Still working on this on and off. I took some drastic steps in terms of trying to paint in the grouting. I think this looks better than before, but it's still a bit messy. Will keep playing with it and tweaking the look as I go along. |

My feeling is that this ring is just about done enough that I'm going to call it finished. The last thing I am working on for it is a sort of detachable viewing platform that can be added to the edge. Also, I got four more columns, so I can fill all the eight outer magnet spaces with columns now. |
