I am having really good fun putting these lovely minis together, but they are testing my skills.

Some minis have really small joints, for example the standing Zahra. Tiny wrists/hands and tip toe pose. Are people pinning these joints?

I can't get the pin up the foot and past the ankle, so part of the pin's job, stopping ankle breaks, is just not possible. Even for just holding the joint together, the pin will not be very deep in the mini; the hands and toe tips are very small. And there is a huge risk (of me) damaging the model while drilling into such small parts.

But if other people are pinning these joints successfully, it would help me believe I can to it.

I actually had exactly the same problems with Zahra. I somehow managed to get her wrists to attach firmly, but I don't quite remember how. I think the tabs on the metal hands could fit well enough into the slots in her forearms, possibly I had to drill them out a bit. But I don't think I actually inserted pins into the joints.

The main issue was also the foot for me. I originally just pinned into the front of her foot to get her to stick to the base. That was OK for a little while. Then the arc of her foot started breaking, because it had been weakened by the fact that I had drilled near it so I could insert the pin.

So the solution I had to go with was to drill into her heel and ankle, like how you describe you would like to do it, but couldn't. Obviously the only way to do it is to go straight into the heel. Which sucks, because she is tiptoeing. So there will be a pin going from the base and up into the heel which is exposed. There's nothing to do about that that I can see though. So I just accepted it. It's not very noticeable when she is on the table, I think.
