But he can. The rules say he can. That's what this thread is about. :)

I just can't come up with any way that the movement can affect the game. I keep thinking of things, but the current models with disengage can't do them. If he was Legio, then he could displace some of his friends with Echelon. Or if he was Morituri, he might have some death effect that he could place somewhere else.

So I still in my heart feel like what you are arguing for should be a real rule. That's why I suggested it in my first post. But so far, it is still entirely theoretical, since Sven running around as a pit ghost seems to have the potential to do absolutely nada to anyone else while he is doing it...

FWIW, Echelon doesn't allow for displacement outside of a model's activation.

But the Pit is not really a pit, mechanically speaking. It's just a visual representation of a Lethal Hazard which doesn't technically affect a models ability to activate Disengage (at least not in anyway I have seen on the rules).

Of course, this is all theory-crafting as no one would ever choose to use Disengage on a defeated model instead of taking the Favor.

Gonzo just mentioned that Disengage says: "Whenever [...] due to damage from an enemy"...

If the pit isn't an enemy, but a hazard, then would it even trigger disengage?

If not, then there is no ghost and I am happy. Disengage seems to be the only real culprit when it comes to my pit issues.

Hurrah! No ghost! Thread success! :D

It's funny because I was even emailing with Walker about this some time back, and he just said that it's a good thing that the released models don't have any rules that interact with the ghost then. So I'm guessing that the wording on Disengage must be written that way to stop it interacting with Berserk/Blood, but it just has the side effect of also stopping the theoretical movement after pit plummeting that annoyed me.
