Yeah, that makes sense to me.

I think I'm going with this interpretation until official word says otherwise (or somebody puts forth an equally compelling and logical argument stating the contrary).

Alright, so we think that the concept of "net successes" is meant to mean "the kind of successes that we would normally end up with *after* subtracting defence dice from the attack if this was a normal attack"?

I think I buy that too - that it's meant to make you not roll defence dice against the ambush success.

This seems like a far more entertaining way to play the rule than the other interpretation, so I'm happy. :)

You all came down on the right side of it. Net successes are "dice net", exhausted bonuses and pushing into friendlies are applied on top. Don't forget the bonus 1 damage that the free [push] generates as well. :D
