we had several interaction questions come up at our last gaming night and we're looking for clarification on which is correct.

1) model A activates and moves w/in 1 inch on Ban-Luca w a free move. The defending player does not react. The active player declares and attack and gains a fatigue. The defending player then uses stall to end the action.

2) model A moves towards Ban-Luca and once w/in 3 inches, the defending player ends that action, keeping model A 3 inches away.

we were questioning if you can react stall to any model w/in 3, or if a prerequisite is that the model must be moving to react stall.

thanks!
JP

The wording says "moves" so moving must happen.
so for 1) you cannot stop the attack
2) yes you can keep the model 3" away from you

I would agree with both of the answers you have provided yourself.

The main thing I'm unsure about, when I think about it, is how exactly the trigger "when an enemy model moves within 3" of this model" is meant to work.

1) Does it only trigger at the exact moment a model hits the 3" barrier, and you have to trigger it then, and if you don't, then you've lost your chance?
2) Can it be triggered at any time during movement, as long as the enemy model has crossed the barrier of being more than 3" away to being less than 3" away at some point during that movement?
3) Can it be triggered at any time during an enemy model's movement, as long as that model is within 3" of Ban-Luca when she chooses the reaction?

My guess is 3), the most flexible version, but I'm not 100% sure.

OMG! I totally did! :D

There should be a rule that once a forumite with more than 0 posts has taken an avatar gladiator pic, that one is taken... ;)

Necro post - Can Ban Luca stall through another friendly Legio model? We ruled she can since Legio can move freely through their friendly model. Sort of like phalanx fighting.

I would think so. As I read the rules, there is no such thing as "line of sight" that you get in other games. So of you can attack or stall a model within 3", then that's what you can do. No intervening model or hazard can block you, since nothing in the rules says anything about anything blocking anything.

That reminds me that I was actually going to raise this kind of question generally - I think that calls for a new thread.

Wow, I didn't realize how powerful Stall is. Does this mean that if the opposing cohort is down to their last man standing, as long as the Legio XIII player keeps removing fatigue from Ban-Luca and doesn't move any models within engagement range of the LMS she can stall them indefinitely?
