The rules for going wild state, paraphrased: The beast attacks the nearest model in engagement range. If there is no model in engagement range, the beast moves towards the closest model.

To me, it is not clear from the text whether the beast can both move and attack, or only one or the other. It doesn't say whether the beast makes an attack after it has moved towards the nearest model.

I assume that the intent is that it moves, and then attacks. But if so, I suggest it be written more clearly.

Hmmm. Interesting point. I agree that the intent is to move and attack since the wording is the same as that of the living hazard rule (as far as moving up to its MOV to engage its target) and that has been established to allow movement and attack.
I guess the logic is that the Wild attack compels a Beast to attack and in order to attack it must be engaged, so the subsequent explanation is simply directing you on how to engage the target if it isn't already, so that you may perform the compulsory attack.

I agree that I also interpret the intent to be that the beast both moves and attacks. But I base that just on a vague feeling of appropriateness, it doesn't actually say that in the rules that I can see. Needs spelling out a little bit more either way, I'd say.

Following how they tried to as literal as possible, if nothing is in range the beast will move, not attack

Edit: scratch that, the commas make things confusing but it referring to the section regards the 3" area around living hazards, they will move if necessary. This wording is the same

Should be a move and attack. The wording is much less clear than it should be here, I have noted it for our next edit pass :D

Sweet, thank you. I think I mostly assumed it was move and attack because I'm used to playing Hordes, where beasts can risk going into a frenzy, and when they do, they both move towards and then subsequently attack the nearest model. So those rules were rumbling around in my brain when reading about how beasts can go wild in AR.

Another general question on "Going Wild".

Scenario:
I'm running a Morituri Ludus. Leo is the Last Model Standing. Leo is fatigued to start my turn.

This is technically a clear turn right?

Leo clears the fatigue. Leo goes Wild (clear turn) and attacks with a free favor. Leo gets to activate now due to Last Model Standing rules and attack again. Is that right!?

That seems like a legal move to me. More incentive for your opponent to let Leo be the Last Man Standing.

Yep, and we have had a few discussions about this before, like this one: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=38232

Conclusion seems to be that beasts are cool as last man standing, because they always get that free Wild attack that gladiators don't.

One more question, you're opponent can react as normal to a Wild attack as normal correct? Same with an attack from Anum's skull?
