I have only played a few times, always against the same player. And I use Morituri, though in one game I subbed in a non Morituri for my sixth model. I can see that there are weak spots on my team, in terms of damage certainly, and favor generation.

I was looking to create a team of specialists from across the various factions, sacrificing clear turn tactics for individual and combination tactics, like a character who aids in assists with a character that causes damage when an attack fails. Is that a viable tactic that people have tried, or are clear turn tactics and faction passive abilities more powerful?

Good question. I was pondering doing something similar myself, like taking a team of only 40mm gladiators from across the different factions. Or you could make a mount-based team, such as Septimus+Nero and Zahra+Sereqet in a 5-card game.

I haven't played a huge amount of games, but my experience so far feels like the most important thing for success is how skilled you are at using the individual models. Ludus benefits haven't seemed like a big deal. So in my view, just getting ludus benefits isn't so important in itself. But it obviously becomes important if you decide to use a specific style of play that revolves around specific benefits (like if you want to take clear turns and exhaust a lot to benefit from Will of Antony).

Thanks for the response, and the ideas. I did try it at the Gen Con tournament, and I went 3-1-1, or 4-1 if I won by taking out more models in the match I'm considering a draw.

Used Bjarrhvit, Frigge, Khepros, Leika, Tiet-Khebi (mostly for damage) and Ywain. Didn't really miss passive cohort abilities too much, or special skills during clear turns. Might swap out Khepros for Otho. Mostly used Khepros for his ability to push larger models, and assisting.

Sounds great. I really like Khepros because of his impressive assisting, when he is standing unfatigued behind someone else, you really don't want to attack them. But Otho is a monster and really annoying to play against. If you play him, be prepared to hear this a lot.

"OK, then I boost my attack with one favor."
"You can't, you're standing next to Otho."
"AARRGGGH!"

Maybe a nasty team would be Tiet-Khebi, Hermes and Otho. T and H both have attack 7, the only ones in the game I think? And O can prevent anyone from attacking H, since they have to spend a favor to attack, and O makes them unable to spend favor.

Toth and Hermes. Blow your favor on attacks, use Libra to drain their favor, Hermes plays the game in god mode haha

Oh dear. That is a pretty evil trick. True, nobody can pay favor to attack Hermes if they have no favor...

Thoth, Otho, Hermes sounds incredibly nasty to play against. I would also run Gaius Pallidus, the added staying power with his clear turn heal would make Otho an even bigger pain to deal with.

Just add Valen. Hermes and him now are both in God mode since they have to attack Hermes with no favor and can't touch Valen till Hermes is dead

That sounds like a nasty 5-man brick then. Thoth, Otho, Hermes, Gaius, Valen. Three schools. No mercy.
