I know RRG has not fully delivered everything yet and has not had their official release of the game yet, so it may be premature asking this.

Are there any plans on making metal versions of the minis? would there be any interest in the community?

Guild Ball has metal and resin versions of their minis, resin being a lot more expensive. Metal variant could bring the price down making it more appealing to new comers. I understand some of the minis it would be hard to do such as leo.

thoughts?

Not just that, but I'm really not a big fan of resin. Great for painting and modeling imo, but not so much for actual gaming. I ended up with a lot of breakage, granted I was able to fix them, but still. Personally, I much prefer hard plastic, with metal a close 2nd. I'm now to the point of avoiding resin at all costs...

So, yeah, +1 for metal from me...

Hmmm...

I can appreciate the thoughts on the strength of metal mini's, particularly in relation to gaming but resin offers far better definition thus enabling much finer detail on a mini - my own personal preference is for resin mini's as they are higher fidelity than metal. On the note of price, metal might be cheaper in theory but I'd much rather pay £15 for a really well detailed resin Sulla (for example) than £7 for a less well defined one mostly because so few mini's are 'required' to play AR - if this was a game of massed armies clashing then lots of lower detailed mini's would be fine as you'd want the overall impression of a swirling melee but with the more singular engagements of AR the mini's stand out so much more, not only as playing pieces but as display ones as well. My two pence though, nothing more.

Yup resin definitely capture detail very well. But if you have a caster who knows what they are doing you can capture detail almost as well as resin with metal. Look at some of the Infinity models very crisp detail.

The clear advantage of having a metal option would be price point and durability.

The price point is rather expensive per model but you only need 3 to 5 to have a game, alternativly if they made a metal you could get 2 factions for the price of one.

Resin is definitely my fav material for display but for gaming and traveling with them I prefer metal or HIPS plastic. There is another type of resin out there that Dropezone uses, I never seen the stuff in hand personally but I was told it have the quality of resin but you can bend the stuff at 45 degrees without breaking and was also told you can chuck it against a wall and it won't shatter.

Anyone know more info about this resin or can confirm this? I heard about a stress test video on youtube but could never find it...

A lot of the models would need resculpting as the poses they are in would not stand up to the weight of the metal. If, for example, you look at Tiet-Khebi, Noxius or Viatrix, there is one very small point of contact between the model and the base.
With resin being a lighter material, RRG are able to achieve the poses they want - metal models would mean drilling and pinning into the foot of each model.
Plastics, however, would still be as light as the resin, but don't hold the detail as well as resin does.

In the age old battle between resin or metal I would chose...BOTH. My main problems in this game are spears, thin swords and models posed on one foot. because of the resin these things have come to me flat out broken or has broke in transport. it snags against the foam and its bad times from there. I DO however like the zhara model being a happy medium because I hoped and prayed that whip didnt come to be broken to bits. I enjoy the resin in this case but if something has a spear...or a thin sword please make that bit metal..pleeeeaaaaase

I had to replace Iasons spear with a metal shaft because the resin was too weak :(

Any hobbyist should have the skill have drilling and pinning metal models.

That said, the pose and fear of metal models being too heavy should not (and has not in the case of the leo a very hefty model that require a brass wire). Some models that were of concern for tipping included a nub or pin to the bottom of the foot which could be left on for basing or cut off.

I love plastic but don't see RRG going that route anytime soon if at all.

Resin minis do hold the best detail but would not mind a minor sacrifice in detail for durability for metal or plastic.

I have a strict I go medieval on your ass if you touch my Arena Rex models without permission.

there is a difference between skill and "do I really need to find a hobby pin thats smaller than any currently sold size, because thats the problem with models like khebi and pinning. that model i seriously didnt mind putting together. my issue is the spears and thinner swords just flat out breaking on any bit of soft tugging against the foam of any carrying case no matter how soft. to me thats a problem and my answer to others who have this trouble is "git gud newb". I do see however that more of the newer models that are coming out for this line have thicker spears...the sword bits are a lil better too, so there is hope.
