This may have been asked previously but I can't find anything in the posts below.

But why are some stat cards showing on the website with black and white art and others with full colour art?

Are the black and white cards the new format?

The Artwork on the stat cards was taken from the early concepts if they are black and white. The newer models came colored at a very early stage and therefore have their colored image on the stat card.

This is true. Early concepts for Arena Rex were grayscale illustrations. The art direction has developed since then though not all characters had been re-illustrated by the time the game cards were printed in large quantities.

Principles of universal design influenced the decision to keep the information on the game card colorless. This way those with colorblindness don't miss anything.
