Hey all! Now that the pledge manager is coming to a close, most people will have made their selections (or are finalizing them shortly). I thought it would be interesting to see what people ultimately decided on and why.

I pledged at the Maximus level, giving me 10+Lupa. I decided to split that amongst 3 factions, BB, L13 and LM. I mainly chose based on aesthetics as opposed to utility, as I will likely spend more time painting than playing.

Blood Brothers - I really liked the feel of this Ludus and the art drew me in.

Frigge - great sculpt and good stats
Vargr - another great sculpt and hard hitting
Hroka - went with her over Sven mainly due to his sculpt - I just didn't love it. I liked his stats and abilities over Hroka's, but model-wise, I really like all of MIKHs work for this game and know he will do her justice.
Bjarrhvit - her art sold me, and really hope her sculpt matches. Stephane Nguyen Van Gioi's work seems predominantly monsters/beasts, but I did see some human sculpts and was satisfied. Considering half of this model will be bearskin anyway, I am not *too* worried


Legio XIII - Again, the aesthetic of the models was the prime motivator, plus the Aquila sculpt is what started it all!

Aquila - see above
Aemelia - sculpt was good, and felt she worked well with Aquila. I fought against Aemilia vs Urien, but I didn't want 2 sculpts that had no sculptor selected yet.
Ban-Luca - liked her concept art a lot, and really hope they pick a good sculptor for her (though the quality of work his far had been superb so not too worried
Gaius - again, awesome artwork and Sebastian has proven his skills.


Ludus Magnus - gotta have some gladiators!

Hermes - solid stat line and was happy with Gael Goumon's work
Viatrix - unique abilities, cool art, and again, confident in the sculptor Patrick Masson
Lupa - no choice, but awesome mini WIP so happy there

And, because I am a putz, I tacked on an extra Septimus+Nero because a) I needed a 4th Ludus Magnus model, b) It will be much cheaper now than later, c) I wanted a showcase figure and d) MIKH is awesome and so is the artwork for Septimus and Nero

Haven't locked in yet, but pledged at Ludis ultimus and a second pledge at the 85 dollar level, going to grab most of the field of mars, Ohio, Micon, and probably Gaius pallidus, and my titan will be wendigo, unless the rules come out and persuade me differently.

I was completely enamored with the art for the Moritori, so I went heavily in their direction. I also really liked the Legio, so I got everything but Aemelia (just doesn't do anything for me). After that, because of the massive amount of dudes you get at Ludus Ultimus, I went a little wacky. I'm going to be painting these guys forever...

No Blood Brothers as I just don't like the style.

I guess I picked LM mostly because I like the looks of these figures and the variety of armour and weapons. I hadn't considered how these factions would play agains each other; one of the down sides of having so much choice is that unless you are playing the game you don't really know what the best competative 3v3 or 5v5 picks are.

It might be nice to see in the future starter sets of say 3 figures that will work together as a team as a buying option.

I thought really hard about Ban Luca, but it has been stated that her art does not reflect he sculpt and there was nothing else to go on. Eventually, I'd like to have 3 from each faction.

No real organization, I just picked the ones I thought looked coolest!

Ironically enough, I do have enough for a 5 man team of Ludus Magnus - I just really dug their style over the Blood Brothers/Moriturri. I'm honestly surprised that the Legio XIII don't have a more armored/roman look to them. Aquila is by my favorite of the bunch.
