On Otho's card, the ability Mentulus states that enemy engaged models cannot spend Favour. Lupa's Caveat Emptor states that a target model may pay 2 favour to make the attack a draw. The question is, can an enemy model, engaged by Otho, use Caveat Emptor?

Hmmm, I'd say yes the enemy could still use the caveat ability. My reasoning is the enemy's controller is paying (essentially giving) Lupa's controller 2 favor to make the outcome neutral. The enemy isn't spending favor as a cost generate an effect, which would otherwise be blocked by Otho. The favor isn't really spent, but transferring.

I think it comes down to the Pay vs Spend keywords...

*I could be completely wrong on this too. Perhaps an official clarification may be necessary?

Good catch. I'll ping Bad Nick for a ruling. Going by previous internal versions of both of those rules it could go either way.

I am assuming you are questioning how the rule would apply if Lupa and Otho were on the same team and both in contact with the "enemy"

I assumed spend and pay were essentially the same, but it will be good to hear officially.

It's supposed to be spend. We used "pay" to be more descriptive and make it clear that the Favor went to Lupa's controller. We'll reword. Thanks all.
