Is there any reason why you can't

move for free into engagement range
spend 1 fatigue to attack
spend 1 fatigue to move away

or

spend 1 fatigue to attacking something in range
move for free to reposition or engage a different target
spend 1 fatigue to attack

We have been very caught up in the concept of everything being in a set order like other games and with further readings of the rules realizing that it might not be as linear in the order of operations as we assumed.

Thanks

You absolutely can attack then do your free move - IIRC, Walker did just that in one of the Adepticon videos that someone put out there. So I think both of your scenarios are OK.

I agree, both orders should absolutely be fine, since there are not limitations on orders. Just be aware of certain possible Reactions by the opponent, stopping you from disengaging into another combat.

Confirmed, there is no restriction on the order of actions during your activation. :D
