Thanks! The fences were definitely inspired by your Spectacles of the Arena posts.

Edit: if anyone is interested, the pyres are just made with Reaper Bones Wall of Fire and a little yellow and blue paint and some wood shavings and toothpicks at the base. Reapers also makes a Fire Elemental that could be cut up for some more dynamic fires.

Sweet! I thought the fence design looked familiar, I am glad you liked the idea. And I was wondering how you made the fire, neat that they are pre-sculpted so anyone could do it. I thought you had maybe sculpted it yourself.

What's better than one rhino...?

I'm going to name the second one Karkadann and I'll make a separate card for him (and maybe give him a bit of a more fantasy-based paint finish).

Working on my three-rhino hazards scenario.

This one is almost done too. I'll touch up the base a little and add some "banderillas" to cover the magnets for when Septimus isn't riding him.

Ended up darkening the hide a bit to make him more menacing. There's more gradation on it than the camera caught though. In any case, I also added the "banderillas" (don't know what they are called in English) to hide the magnets while Nero is running around riderless. Still gonna do some touch ups, but I'm liking the way it looks.

That is really cool! The darkened hide works better. And the colourful spears really add some zest to an otherwise somewhat monochrome model.

Thanks!

Ywain is going to get a red cape for sure. His standing pose kinda reminds me of a bullfighter.

It's a theme! Fantastic!

Incidentally, it kinda looks like Nero is only attached to his base by his front right hoof and nothing else. Is that really possible? How does he not topple over?

Pins!!

Actually his right hind hoof is also attached, but that mostly prevents rotation. The bulk of his weight is held by the pin on the front hoof. It does have a little give when pressed, but his front left hoof ends up resting on the floor for additional support when that happens.
