I am reading that apparently, the norm for historical gladiator games was that in the case where a gladiator was supposed to have been killed, but wasn't dead yet - just lying in the arena bleeding and gurgling - they had a special guy standing by on the sidelines.

This was an executioner called the Charun, or Charon, modelled on the Etruscan demonic ferryman. Apparently he carried a big two-handed hammer, and it was his job to go into the arena and finish off mortally wounded gladiators by hitting them over the head and putting them out of their misery.

Even though he wasn't a fighter, but an executioner, I feel like this might be an interesting concept that could be worked into Arena Rex somehow...

Yeah! I've had the same thought. I think it'd make an excellent giveaway model.

I’m not near my AR materials to check, but I’m pretty sure Lupa fills that role (with her hammer).

I agree ... That would be a cool model to have as a give away at a big event ...

Yup, Lupa already fills this role.

Here is her flavor text: "A spectacle and executioner, Lupa is often brought into the arena to finish off foes who have been condemned, or to rouse a crowd when their interest is flagging. Crushing the heads of the fallen with great strokes of her hammer, or toying with opponents by incorporating elaborate flourishes, she ensures that even the most lackluster opponents will be drawn into a great show. Adept at creating a captive audience, Lupa ensures that the crowds always leave satisfied."

Oooh. I'd never seen her flavour text because she's not in the webstore, and I tend to forget about her for that reason. Good find! :)
