I've read the first 5 in the series and am currently discovering the ways of Roman Navy and Piracy in the early AD. I'm fairly certain that one of the next books focuses on Gladiators, and Scarrow's attention to historical detail is very good.
Worth a read.
Brilliant, brilliant books - Scarrow is one of my favourite authors! You should also check out his Generals books about Napoleon and Wellington if you enjoy stories about early 19th century warfare.
IF I remember correctly, he also wrote some books for teenagers about a boy who got sold as a slave to a ludus. Trying to remember the name of the books, but I think the main character turns out to be the son of ......................................................................................................... well, I'll leave it there as I don't want to give out any spoilers
